Important Update

Updated the 4th of May, 2020

In light of the ongoing developments of the new coronavirus COVID-19 and its effects on the preparation of Expo 2020, the Swedish Expo 2020 Committee wishes to communicate the following to its collaborative partners:

Today on 4 May, the decision was made to postpone Expo 2020 one year and to instead arrange it between 1 October 2021 and 31 March 2022. The decision was taken unanimously by the voting Member States of the World Expo governing body BIE. The name Expo 2020 will still be the official name of the event, even though it takes place during 2021 and 2022.

This means that there now is a definite answer of when Expo 2020 will take place. The Committee will, based on this decision, continue the planning and engagements for Expo 2020 together with all collaborative partners, the Expo organizer and other participating countries to facilitate this unavoidable change as much as possible.
