Electric fire trucks for zero exhaust emissions

The world is in the midst of a transformation shift – a global acceleration toward zero emission solutions. Volvo Group has developed an electric driveline for leading fire truck company Rosenbauer, delivering zero exhaust emissions and significantly reduced noise levels.

The truck – named Revolutionary Technology (RT) – is undergoing real-world customer testing with the fire department here in Dubai.

The Volvo Group-powered RT truck will help fire departments around the world reduce their fuel costs as well as improve safety and functionality. In addition, the new electrically powered truck has a backup diesel engine on board in case the journey or operation takes longer than expected.

This engine configuration provides space for the entire firefighting crew to run out through bus-like doors, rather than climb down the steps of a regular truck. Opening up the cabin space also means the crew can sit facing each other, which – together with low engine noise – allows for easier discussion and planning.
